    The International Conference on Design and Manufacturing Frontiers (ICFDM) was a series of international academic conferences jointly sponsored by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the US Wu Xianming Foundation in 1994. It is held every two years. The conference aims to strengthen academic exchanges and cooperation between scholars at home and abroad. To promote the development of scientific research in the field of design and manufacturing, and to be recognized as a high-level international conference with great influence in the field of mechanical design and manufacturing. It is also the latest progress in the achievements and basic research of the National Natural Science Foundation of China. Important platform.

    The theme of the 12th International Conference on Design and Manufacturing Frontiers (ICFDM2016) was “Basic Frontier Exploration and Innovation”, which covered the frontier areas and hot research directions of design and manufacturing science. During the two-day conference, 24 invited report experts will share the latest research progress in the field of design and manufacturing science; 50 excellent fund project reports, 50 conference papers and nearly 200 fund project results posters will be displayed separately by field. Results. The conference will also select 10 National Natural Science Foundation outstanding projects and 10 excellent conference papers. After peer review, selection of academic committees and preliminary review of journal editors, 70 conference papers were recommended for publication in 5 international journals, and 13 conference papers were recommended for publication in the English edition of Journal of Mechanical Engineering.
